WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO PLAY SOCCER?

Shin guards are a requirement. Soccer cleats are a very good idea. We supply balls for players during practice but we encourage players to have their own ball that they can play with at home. If you have used equipment that your child has outgrown, please consider donating to us. We will offer it to players who can use it.

WHERE DO WE PRACTICE?

Our practices are held at Cross Creek Community Park (12610 Old Gunpowder Rd., Beltsville, MD 20705).  Practice dates and time are: Saturdays 9 am-1 pm, and Tuesdays 6 – 8 pm. Saturday practices are only held during off season where there are no league games.

WHERE AND WHEN ARE THE GAMES?

Our U-6 to U-13 members (school grade K- 8) participate in PGSI League and all games are held on Saturday mornings at Magruder and Melrose Parks in Hyattsville. U-18 and U-15 members participate in the AAYSA league and games are held on Saturdays or Sundays at various locations within Anne Arundel County.  League games are in fall and spring seasons.

DO WE PRACTICE DURING WINTER?

Yes, we rent indoor soccer facilities whenever suitable venues are available.  We don’t have a fixed indoor venue, so winter practices are not always guaranteed.  Our winter program is communicated to all parents in the fall.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Annual membership fee are:  $240 for one child, $320 for two children and $400 for three or more children.  There is a one time $50 registration fee for first time parents.  Membership fees are paid at the beginning of each year. We also have a payment plan – first payment due in January and the second payment due in June.

WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP FEE COVER?

Annual membership fee covers two season league participation (spring and fall) and full year practice, including indoor practice during winter.  Membership fee is also used to cover field rental, soccer equipment purchase, coaching fees and other related expenses. All players and coaches benefit from the insurance provided by K & K Insurance through Maryland State Youth Soccer Association. There is medical, dental and liability coverage. We hope that no one needs it, but in the event that something happens during practice or game, it is there for our players and coaches. If there is an accicdent please let us know, and then access this link to get a claim started.

Note:  Jersey, shin guards and cleats are the responsibility of parents.  Membership fee does NOT cover these expenses.

HOW IS INFORMATION ABOUT PRACTICE, GAMES AND OTHER IMPORTANT TOPICS SHARED?

Every EriStars team has a team manager who is responsible for communicating practice and game schedule, as well as other important team related information.  Information is communicated via e-mail and text messaging. It is important that parents establish communication with their respective team manger to get important updates. General organizational information is shared via e-mail to all parents.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A PARENT?

The most important thing that parents can do for their children’s soccer experience is to be supportive and be a positive influence.  We believe sport is a great way for parents to create lasting bonds with their children, so we encourage parents to be actively engaged in their child’s soccer activities, including practices and games.  Parents should stay positive and convey positive messages to their children at all times regardless of the circumstances.

Parents are encouraged to work closely with their respective team manger to support their child’s team.  Parents can rotate bringing snacks for the players and help coaches with equipment on the field.  We want parents to bring their children to practices and games on time, and be there to cheer and support the team. If your child can’t make it to practice or game, we expect parents to notify their team manager ahead of time.
